In the era of globalization, English has become the main communication language in many multinational companies. Mastery of English is a very important skill for students. This writing aims to explore the extent to which mastery of English influences students’ careers and what factors influence mastery of this language. The results of this paper show that good command of English has a big impact on students’ careers. The ability to communicate well in English enables them to engage in a multinational business environment, establish international relationships, and take advantage of career opportunities in a closely connected global job market.
Currently, English language proficiency has become the main requirement for Indonesian citizens to be able to compete in the global work environment. This is because English has become an international language that is widely used in various fields. In a work environment having good English language skills can provide a competitive advantage, many multinational companies, international organizations, and companies that operate globally require employees who are able to communicate well in English. Strong English language skills can also open up job opportunities in foreign companies or in international project teams.
Therefore, it is important for Indonesian citizens to develop their English language skills in order to compete well in international work and academic environments. Governments, educational institutions and individuals need to continue to encourage and support the development of English language skills in an effort to increase global competitiveness.
